Pandemics vs. GSA G-Wackers

Pandemics –

Last night the mighty Pandemics ended the regular season beating the GSA G-Wackers 12-6, taking our win streak to 4. We are the hottest team in the league. The G-Wackers last night claimed to have recently defeated some of the leagues top teams including USAID, Commerce, and Agriculture. We are looking good for the playoffs! Leading the Pandemics off in the first inning was Coach Nelson’s safe crawl to first base after a hard hit was bobbled by the shortstop. (We thought it was his clavicle that was injured not his legs) With 2 men on base, the late arrival of Ray “I had to eat and make a few calls” Sass, was welcomed. Ray stepped up to the plate and smashed a 3-run homer to give the Pandemics a 3-0 lead. GSA didn’t get down and came roaring back to tie the game up at the end of the first inning.

The game continued with a new addition to the line up in the 3rd inning with a cute, mysterious girl off the street who only wanted to be known as “Blondie.” Blondie contributed a base hit and scored a run with some brilliant base running; come to find out “Blondie” is our Coach’s wife! Following a good inning with the sticks, the Pandemics took the field for a mere 3 minutes as Kent Forde ended the inning quickly with an amazing double play from shortstop! Following the inning, Kaleena White reported that we must have GSA on the ropes because of the amount of sweat that was left in her glove by a player on the opposing team, who will go unnamed, that borrowed her glove. It proved to be true.

The Pandemics finished the game with the same strong energy they started with. The bats continued to be hot as Coach slammed a 2-run homer and a long awaited triple derived from the bat of Michael Banyas! But GSA came back with a stunning play of their own as the pitcher leaped into the air and snagged an amazingly hard hit ball and throwing the runner out at first. With a shocked Pandemic sideline, Coach Nelson exclaimed “Where did that come from!”, and above the “awe’s” of the crowed you hear a calm Kaleena White explain “It’s the Glove!” The Pandemics kept their heads high and continued to play a great game! Not only was our offense on fire but our dynamic “D” was lead by Drew Smith’s forever long throws from center field, one snagging the runner out at 3rd base as GSA thought he had slide to safety. After a short scuffle by the coaches, Coach Nelson returned to the pitching mound to end the game with a surprising strike out!

Congratulations Pandemics on another great win and a well played season! Playoffs are right around the corner. I told some of the team last night that the playoffs don’t begin until later in September. That is wrong! The playoffs actually begin August 29! The schedule hasn’t been released but keep loose because we need to be at the top of our game for the playoffs! I’ll keep y’all posted!
